Costa Navarino is a Mediterranean destination focused on sustainable development, located in Messinia, in the southwest of the Peloponnese, Greece. We had already mentioned this region and one of the hotels on Airlines and Destinations
Boasting breathtaking seaside scenery, this region has been shaped by 4,500 years of history. Costa Navarino’s philosophy is guided by a sincere desire to preserve the natural beauty and heritage of Messinia.

The destination includes several distinct sites with five-star hotels …
…luxury private residences, world-class golf and numerous activities throughout the year. Navarino Dunes is home to The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, and Costa Navarino Residences. Navarino Bay is the setting for Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, W Costa Navarino and Navarino Agora, a carefully curated market place. Both locations feature a signature 18-hole golf course, while there are two other premier golf courses at Navarino Hills.

This landscape had to be preserved
The reduction in CO² emissions is due to actions that include: supplying electricity from renewable sources via certificates of origin, reducing the use of LPG as well as reducing energy consumption.
The decarbonization practices planned at Costa Navarino include short- and long-term actions to reduce CO2 emissions, both for direct and indirect emissions.

Rewards for its efforts towards the environment
The company aims for 100% electricity supply from renewable sources. Costa Navarino’s integrated approach to sustainability has led to its emergence among the world’s best sustainable destinations, with multiple awards such as those from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), World Travel Market (WTM), etc.

An environmental observatory has been created on the Costa Navarino
Already in 2009, TEMES (the promoter), in collaboration with Stockholm University and the Academy of Athens, had created the Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO) located on the Costa Navarino. NEO’s focus is research and education on climate change and the environment in the wider Mediterranean region. Today, the NEO has become a dynamic center of modern research, actively contributing to the efforts of the international scientific community to combat climate change. To date, more than 200 scientific publications have been published, while more than 1,800 students from all over the world have visited it.

There are still three golf courses
We are only going to mention one of the 18-hole, par 70 golf courses by the sea in Greece, The Bay Course, located a few steps from the Navarino dunes. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, it offers an alternative golf experience in a different landscape. The Bay Course winds through three natural landscapes – Seaside, Canyon and Grove – offering striking contrasts and sea and mountain views for a truly memorable golf experience.
