For the first time, the airline Corsair is the Official Air Carrier and Official Partner of the mythical double-handed race of the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandy – Le Havre which will start on October 29, 2023.
For 30 years, the best sailors have competed in this race which retraces the coffee route, and which has linked Le Havre to Martinique since the 2021 edition. This duo transatlantic race is the longest and most demanding in the world. As the Official Air Carrier, Corsair will accompany the race organizers and all those involved in the race wishing to get to Fort-de-France, the finish line of the race. For the occasion, the airline Corsair will be present in both villages.
A pioneer in the field, the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre has been committed since 2007 to its approach to reducing its environmental impact. It is now accelerating and is committed to delivering a sustainable event with a positive impact, at sea but also on land. In line with this commitment, Corsair will schedule its new A330neo aircraft on the Paris Orly – Fort-de-France service during the event. The environmental performance of this new Airbus A330neo is a very clear improvement compared to that of older generation aircraft: 25% reduction in fuel consumption and C02 emissions per seat, as well as 60% reduction in noise footprint, thus making it possible to preserve the natural riches of Martinique.
The airline will take the organization of the race on a journey, and will offer the teams of skippers and their relatives to board this new aircraft which has ultra-modern cabins, with the possibility of connecting via Wifi on board throughout the vol, with access to more than 110 films, music albums, playlists, radio stations, games, series and children’s programmes. Everything is there to allow them to make the most of their trip.
A partnership for the influence of the West Indies
In Martinique, land of arrival of the race, the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre supports the coffee sector of Martinique from a social and environmental point of view, Jacques Vabre wishes to support the return to the island of this historic production. Corsair is fully associated with this project by being the Official Partner and Official Air Carrier of this race. The airline also wishes at its level to honor the territory of Martinique and its wealth. This partnership is all the more legitimate as the airline has been a historical player in overseas services for more than 30 years. Since the end of 2020, Corsair has strengthened its roots in the West Indies with a new shareholder round table composed mainly of Guadeloupe entrepreneurs, as well as the local authorities of Guadeloupe and Martinique.
