A final assembly line at Rochefort airport
VoltAero has taken another important step towards large-scale production of its Cassio family of electric-hybrid aircraft by today laying the foundation stone of a final assembly line at Rochefort airport, in Charente-Maritime , in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (France). This 24,000-square-foot facility will serve as the assembly site and delivery center for VoltAero’s all-new Cassio family of regional and general aviation aircraft. It positions VoltAero in a strategic location in the southwest of France, with a vibrant economy and an established industry presence – including the aviation sector.
To produce the Cassio family
The master plan incorporates the potential for future growth of VoltAero up to 7,400 square meters at Rochefort Airport, while allowing suppliers and service providers to develop their own presence while supporting production of the Cassio. In line with VoltAero’s strategy to present the Cassio as an eco-efficient multirole aircraft, the company’s industrial facility at Rochefort Airport has been designed with a focus on sustainable development. The features of the final assembly unit are those of a mixed concrete/wood structural design and the use of wooden floors where appropriate, as well as rainwater harvesting and photovoltaic panels for electrical energy .
150 planes per year at full capacity
Construction work is currently underway and the facility is expected to be completed in August 2024. It will include the final assembly line, a workshop, a logistics area and the design and engineering offices. At full capacity, VoltAero plans to produce approximately 150 Cassio family aircraft per year. The advantages of the industrial site for VoltAero are its direct access to the existing runway of Rochefort airport, with a length of 2,280 meters and a width of 45 meters, as well as the availability of road, rail and maritime connections. of the region.
