THE Ryanair traffic at Charleroi airportlocated south of Brussels, will be disrupted Thursday September 14 and Friday September 15because of a pilots strike.

Some 28 low-cost flights departing from and arriving in Charleroi are canceled this Thursday, and 30 flights this Friday. More than 5,000 travelers are impacted, according to the manager of the Belgian airport, Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA), which publishes the updated list of cancellations on its site. “In case your flight is canceled, we ask you not to come to the airport“, BSCA clearly asks.

This is the fourth wave of pilots’ strike since the start of summer 2023. The CNE and ACV Puls unions are taking actions to demand the restoration of salaries to their pre-pandemic level as well as to denounce problems concerning working time. pilots’ rest. Despite several meetings between the unions and management, no solution to the impasse has yet been found.

In addition, the unions accuse the company of not respecting Belgian law and of prospering thanks to a “social dumping» which creates unfair competition with other companies. For its part, Ryanair reports that more than half of its traffic at Charleroi is provided by planes operated by non-Belgian personnel.
