100% CONTEMPORARY CULTURES AT THE PuSh FESTIVAL IN VANCOUVER

Theater, dance, multimedia, music, circus… The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival is the winter Arty event in Vancouver. It is an international, multidisciplinary festival organized by curators who are committed to bringing together critically recognized works from different disciplines under the umbrella of a single festival.

The PuSh Festival highlights new ways of telling stories, new forms of staging, new approaches to combining disciplines and new points of view on contemporary themes and issues.

From January 19 to February 4, 2024. Vancouver, British Columbia.

ATTEND THE LAUNCH OF CHAINSAWS IN THE YUKON!

We knew ax throwing, but here we are in the upper category thanks to the RENDEZ-VOUS festival! For a week, the city of Whitehorse is buzzing with winter activities, each one more original than the next. On the program: pancake breakfast, ax or chainsaw throwing, dog sledding competitions, carrying bags of flour, etc. To live … cautiously all the same!

The Yukon in winter is also a unique opportunity to take part in the international frozen hairstyle competition! Immerse your head in thermal waters at 42°C, then let the magic of the cold do its hair work. In the Yukon, the expression “keeping a cool head” takes on its full meaning.

From February 10 to 26, 2024 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

FLYING CANOE VOLANTS, THE FESTIVAL THAT MAKES EDMONTON VIBRATE

Daniel Cournoyer, producer of Flying Canoe presents the festival as the “celebration of the Indigenous, Métis and Francophone peoples of the province. These communities come together in Edmonton to celebrate the magic of long winter nights.” The best part of the festival: listening to Roger Dallaire, French-speaking storyteller, livening up the evenings by recounting the legend of the flying canoe.

On the program, a major triathlon event: ski slope descent in a canoe, ax throwing and lumberjacking event without forgetting the concerts, ice sculptures, illuminated walks… Get your gloves and snow boots! Registration for the Canadian Triathlon is opening soon.

From January 31 to February 3, 2024. 100% French-speakingthe festival is a must in Alberta!

100% FRANCOPHONE FESTIVAL IN WINNIPEG, IN THE HEART OF MANITOBA

The Festival du Voyageur is the largest French-speaking event in Western Canada welcoming more than 90,000 festival-goers each year. This celebration highlights the arts of several disciplines: music, dance, sculpture and visual arts, while prioritizing French-speaking and Indigenous artists. Not forgetting outdoor family activities with more than five performance stages for all ages.

From February 16 to 25, 2024. The Festival du Voyageur gives priority to the French language and the development of French-speaking culture.

SLIDE AT WINTERLUDE IN OTTAWA

Winterlude was created to celebrate the culture and climate of Canada’s capital. The organizers were inspired by the ancestors who gathered to have fun in good company during the long winter months.

Since then, Winterlude has taken place every year in February in Ottawa-Gatineau. New traditions were created over the years such as the famous bed races and the challenge of waiters and waitresses on ice, without forgetting the Trotteurs: a horse race on the Rideau Canal ice rink like the one that kicked off the very first Winterlude in 1979.

From February 2 to 19 in Ottawa, Ontario.
