Fourteen people on board a small plane died when their plane, a turboprop Embraer EMB-110crashed on Saturday in theState of Amazonas, northern Brazil.
The plane of local airline Manaus Aerotaxi, which was arriving from Manaus, missed its landing in Barcelos in heavy rain and left the runway, killing all 12 passengers and two crew members. There is no no survivorsaccording to the governor of the Brazilian state of Amazonas, Vinicius Almeida.
“I deeply regret the death of the 12 passengers and two crew members in the plane crash in Barcelos on Saturday. Our teams have been on the ground since the accident to provide the necessary support. My solidarity and prayers to the family and friends of the victims», Wrote the governor on the X network (formerly Twitter). Images broadcast by Brazilian media showed the small white plane lying on its belly on a dirt runway, the front of the aircraft immersed in thick vegetation.

According to authorities, two other planes approaching Barcelos around the same time turned back to Manaus due to bad weather. The region is experiencing heavy rainfall and the most likely cause of the accident is an error in the route taken at the time of landing.
