Biman Bangladesh Airlines committed to order 10 long-haul Airbus A350announced the French President Emmanuel Macron currently in official visit to Bangladesh.
The transaction is still being finalized, but it is the first time that the Bangladeshi national airline, a historic customer of the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing, has placed an order for aircraft with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus.
“Thank you for the choice of confidence for European aeronautics and the commitment to these ten Airbus A350s is an important point.“, welcomed Emmanuel Macron in front of journalists, after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.
“We requested ten planes in stages. The technical committee is in the process of evaluating. These aircraft will be used on new and old routes. Each country has Airbuses and Boeings in its fleet. But we only have Boeings, not a single Airbus“, he declared for his part the Bangladeshi Minister of Civil Aviation, Mahbub Ali.
Currently owning around twenty aircraft, Boeing wide-body and single-aisle aircraft as well as Dash-8 turboprops, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates a long-haul network of twenty destinations, including Great Britain, Malaysia, Thailand and Canada.
