In October, approximately 2.36 million passengers passed through the airport of Berlin-Brandenburgconfirming the progress of activity of the new international airport in the federal capital of Germany.

With the All Saints’ Day holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg, October has been the busiest month for travel in 2023 so far. For comparison, in October 2022 there were 2.1 million passengers. In October of the pre-coronavirus year 2019, around 3.2 million passengers were counted at the former Tegel and Schönefeld airports.

In total, around 19.5 million passengers transited (departure and arrival) in Berlin-Brandenburg in the first ten months of this year. This is almost as many as in the whole of 2022, with 19.8 million passengers.

Last month, around 17,400 planes took off and landed in Berlin-Brandenburg. This represents around 1,400 more movements than in October 2022. Around 25,600 aircraft movements were recorded in Tegel and Schönefeld in October 2019. In total, around 3,100 tonnes of air cargo were handled in October 2023, i.e. almost as much as the pre-pandemic year of 2019.
