Berlin-Brandenburg: slight increase in passenger numbers in July

In July, more than 2.2 million passengers took off and landed atBerlin-Brandenburg International Airport. The number of passengers thus increased by around 100,000 compared to the previous June.

Last year, the international airport of the German federal capital had around 2 million passengers in July. And in July of the pre-pandemic year 2019, around 3.4 million passengers passed through the former Tegel and Schönefeld airports, which are now closed and replaced by Berlin-Brandenburg.

Some 6,127 planes took off and landed at 6,127 planes took off and landed in Berlin-Brandenburg in July 2023, around 1,000 more than the same month last year, and against 25,684 plane movements in July 2019. About 2,743 tons of air cargo were loaded last month, about 400 tons more than in July 2022 and 460 tons less than in July 2019.

Its manager expects a slight increase in the number of passengers until the end of the summer holidays in the Berlin region. In total, around 3.5 million passengers are expected in Berlin-Brandenburg between July 13 and August 27, the dates of the Berlin region’s summer holidays. In total, some 66 airlines fly from Berlin-Brandenburg to 141 destinations in 47 countries during the summer holiday period.
