THE Number of passengers at the airport Berlin-Brandenburg reached approximately 2.27 million passengers in September 2023, an increase of 9.9% compared to September 2022 (2 million passengers).

More surprisingly, traffic for the month of September counts 50,000 more passengers than in the previous August. The summer period has therefore extended for Berliners, who continue to travel in large numbers at the start of the school year. Before the Covid pandemic, in September 2019, around 3.3 million passengers used Berlin’s former Tegel and Schönefeld airports.

Last month, 16,640 planes took off and landed in Berlin-Brandenburg, around 500 more than in August 2023. In September of the previous year 2022, there were around 700 fewer movements. In September 2019, there were around 25,700 movements in Tegel and Schönefeld.

Last month, a total of 3,212 tonnes of air cargo were loaded at Berlin International Airport. This is an increase compared to September last year, when 2,882 tonnes were loaded, and also compared to September 2019, when 3,017 tonnes were loaded.

In total, almost 17.2 million passengers traveled via Berlin-Brandenburg in the first nine months of this year, compared to around 14.6 million travelers in the same period last year.
