Thousands of hectares of land have already been burned in a massive bushfire in eastern Australia.
North-east of Sydney
The fire raged near the town of Kempsey, northeast of Sydney. according to firefighters, it will take at least a week for the fires to be brought under control. Several properties and buildings are still threatened, said the fire department spokesperson.
The brush fire spread extremely quickly. High temperatures and strong winds have fanned the flames in recent days.
Statewide, more than 1,400 firefighters and support workers were deployed to fight 65 bush fires, 22 of which are not yet under control.
The Australian Weather Service has warned that temperatures are likely to rise later in the week. It is possible that next Saturday we will see a return to an extreme fire risk, mainly in the north-eastern region of New South Wales.
