The Auchan supermarket chain, which operates in Spain under the Alcampo brand, has taken a giant step to expand in the country. The group has received an agreement to acquire 234 stores from the Dia Group.
Auchan could double in size in Spain
Thus, the chain belonging to the Mulliez family (Decathlon, Leroy Merlin, Boulanger or Kiabi) will double its presence in Spain to reach a total of around 550 establishments. Today, the distribution group currently has 168 convenience stores, 71 supermarkets and 76 hypermarkets. This will make it the second most important country for the company which is very established in France with more than 720 points of sale.
Voyages Auchan hopes to take advantage of this opportunity to grow
Voyages Auchan is currently only in France. The network has 13 agencies and its own website. Management has been entrusted to Marietton Développement since 2015.

Voyages Auchan could be a serious opponent to Viajes Carrefour or El Corte Inglès viajes
The growth of its network in Spain could be an incentive to set up its tourism division. The group would face its distributor competitors such as El Corte Inglés or Carrefour, which have their own networks of travel agencies. Viajes Carrefour has 250 sales offices throughout the country, while Viajes el Corte Inglés has 1,200 branches in Spain.
