Call for tenders for the renovation of Maria Callas’ house
Following the announcement of the renovation and transformation of the former Athenian house of Maria Callas, the Municipality of Athens has published a tender notice for the project which will take place on September 12, 2023 as the deadline of submission.
Save an architectural gem
The renovation of the four-storey neoclassical house of Callas, located rue Patission, is budgeted at 6.8 million euros and will be supervised by Anaplasi SA.
The project is expected to be completed in two years from the finalization of the tender and includes the restoration of the facade, roof and interiors of the building. It will be fully accessible to people with disabilities.
The great Greek soprano lived in the house on Patission Street from 1937 to 1945. The Maria Callas Lyric Art Academy is a non-profit organization that will provide university-level musical education in lyric opera.
