A recently published video confirms that the ASRAAM missile is indeed deployed in Ukraine: an HMT Supacat equipped with a dual ASRAAM launcher fired a missile against a Shahed drone, allowing its destruction in mid-flight.
On August 4, 2023, an image published on social networks confirmed that the United Kingdom had secretly delivered at least one Supacat HMT truck modified into an anti-aircraft missile system. The latter had two AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles on its platform, thus becoming the first “HMT ASRAAM”. L’Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile (ASRAAM) is an infrared missile normally designed in air-to-air and short range (25 kilometers). These would therefore have been modified to be able to be fired from the ground.
Since then, images of this vehicle were rare… until October 4: a video, available below, confirms the first aerial destruction for an HMT ASRAAM. The video begins directly with the missile firing, which will quickly overtake and destroy what is indicated to be a Russian Shahed suicide drone.
