An airline plane United Airlines connecting Zürich To Chicago lost an emergency slide in mid-flight, the fall causing no injuries on board or on the ground.

The extremely rare incident occurred on July 17, 2023, when the American company’s Boeing 767-300ER (registered N666UA), departing from Zurich-Kloten with 155 passengers and 10 crew members on board, was preparing to land at the airport of Chicago O’Hare. THE toboggan fell on a residential area, landing two minutes later without incident or injury in the cabin or on the ground, where a building was said to have been slightly damaged.

The incident on the aircraft delivered in August 1998 to United Airlines was reported to the FAA, which opened an investigation. “Maintainers at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago discovered an emergency slide was missing on a United Airlines Boeing 767 (Flight UAL12) that had just landed safely from Switzerland,” the Federal Aviation Administration told NBC. The company of Star Alliance for his part assured: “We immediately contacted the FAA and are working with our team to better understand the circumstances of this case”.

The repairs should not take too long, Flightradar24 already announcing the departure of the 767-300ER still to Zurich for July 21.
