Ampaire has made a strategic acquisition to broaden its product portfolio and accelerate the deployment of its electrification technology for aircraft, now including ADAVe and targeting the defense sectors.
Ampaire acquires Talyn Air…
Ampaire, developer of hybrid electric aircraft powertrains and Talyn Air, developer of new electric vertical take-off and landing (ADAVe or eVTOL) aircraft systems, announced on July 20, 2023 that Ampaire had acquired substantially all of Talyn’s assets. “The transaction will accelerate Ampaire’s strategy to build and lead the electrification of aviation, driving more profitable growth by expanding into attractive adjacent defense, drone and eVTOL markets, as well as expanding its intellectual property and contract portfolio with eight additional patents and seven government contracts,” Ampaire said.
…And targets the defense sectors
With the acquisition of Talyn, Ampaire continues to expand applications for its hybrid electric propulsion systems, which have to date traveled more than 18,000 nautical miles (33,336 km). “Adding Talyn to Ampaire’s technical base in hybrid electric propulsion will immediately contribute to revenue growth and allow the company to accelerate its penetration into the valuable UAV and ADAVe sectors for commercial and defense applications,” said Kevin Noertker, CEO of Ampaire. “Growth through business and asset acquisitions is a key part of our long-term strategy to become the industry leader in electrified aviation. With this expanded portfolio of technologies and programs, we will be well positioned to offer customers the industry’s most proven hybrid electric propulsion capabilities across drones, fixed-wings and ADAVe,” adds Kevin Noertker. Ampaire is directly targeting the areas of defense where Talyn has an interesting customer portfolio… In the absence of orders, for the moment, from the civil sector.
