The takeover of the Italian TO Alpitour, put up for sale by Giovanni Tamburi’s financial company in recent weeks, seems to be creating an appetite. Several large operators are looking at the file. We are starting to have some well-known names in the race. However, we have not yet seen any French companies.
The TUI group or the Spanish group Wamos?
Among the first names to arrive on the table of the advisor Goldman Sachs, as reported by the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, would be groups of the size of Tui and even Wamos. The Wamos Group is already a reference group in southern Europe’ present in Spain, Portugal and Italy= with a turnover close to 1.2 billion euros and more than 1,800 professionals among its staff. There would also be the Certares fund which is present in Italy and France (in the Marietton group)
MSC would not be involved…
However, according to the first information disclosed, the MSC group would not appear on the list. Moreover, information on a possible interest never came from the Aponte family business.
An offer by the end of the year?
The process now provides that expressions of interest will be transformed into offers, which must be presented by the end of this year, to then be able to proceed with the sale at the beginning of 2024. The Alpitour Group’s valuation would be between 1.3 and 1.5 billion euros and would include the entire scope of the company and therefore also the hotels and the Neos airline.
