Spirit Airlines plans to continue its expansion at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport by adding non-stop service to five more cities – one in Mexico – between September 6 and spring 2013.
Additionally, on September 6, Spirit Airlines is launching twice-daily non-stop service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Fort Lauderdale-based Spirit Airlines has announced it will launch service from DFW to BWI, Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Metropolitan Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The carrier has also filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin serving Cancun. Schedules and fares will be announced upon receipt of necessary governmental approval.
Once approval for the Cancun service is forthcoming, Spirit Airlines will be serving a total of 20 non-stop destinations from DFW. Spirit began service at DFW just over a year ago.
The carrier is scheduling daily non-stop, round-trip service from DFW to BWI from September 6 (but the first DFW-BWI flight will actually operate on September 5). Twice daily non-stop service between DFW and IAH begins on September 20.
Daily non-stop service linking DFW with Oakland International Airport and with Los Angeles International Airport will begin on April 25, 2013.

The Airbus A319 has provided the backbone of the Spirit Airlines fleet and the carrier will continue to operate a sizable number of A319s, though it is increasingly graduating to the larger A320 on many routes
Today Spirit offers non-stop service to 15 destinations from DFW. These include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, New York LaGuardia, Orlando, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, San Diego, Tampa, Toluca, and Portland, Oregon.
Spirit’s planned schedule for its BWI-DFW route will see flight NK667 leave BWI daily at 10:20 a.m. and land at DFW at 12:35 p.m. local time. In the other direction, flight NK202 will depart DFW at 1:25 p.m. and arrive at BWI at 5:25 p.m. local time.
The airline’s schedule for the DFW-IAH route will see the first of its two daily flights, NK832, push back from the gate at DFW at 7:00 a.m. and reach IAH at 8:00 a.m. The second flight, NK950, is timed to begin taxiing at DFW at 5:55 p.m. in order to get to IAH at 6:55 p.m.
In the other direction, flight NK281 is timed to leave IAH at 8:50 a.m. and touch down at DFW at 10:05 a.m. Flight NK713 will depart IAH at 7:35 p.m. and land at DFW at 8:50 p.m.

At the Dubai Airshow on November 15, 2011, Airbus and Fort Lauderdale-based Spirit Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding as a preliminary to orders from the U.S. carrier for 45 A320neos and 30 A320s. Spirit firmed the entire order on February 1, 2012
Spirit Airlines’ schedule for its DFW-OAK service will see flight NK715 push back from the gate at DFW at 11:15 p.m. daily and touch down at OAK at 12:45 a.m. the following morning, local time. In the other direction, flight NK714 is timed to begin taxiing at OAK at 12:30 a.m. and to reach DFW at 6:00 a.m., local time.
The carrier’s schedule for its DFW-LAX daily service calls for flight NK867 to depart DFW at 7:20 a.m. and arrive at LAX at 8:20 a.m., local time. In the other direction, flight NK868 is timed to leave LAX at 9:10 a.m. and get to DFW at 2:10 p.m., local time.
On the BWI-Fort Lauderdale route, Spirit’s flight NK301 will push back from the gate at BWI at 7:00 a.m. and touch down at FLL at 9:30 a.m. Flight NK443 is timed to begin taxiing at BWI at 6:15 p.m. and arrive at FLL at 8:45 p.m.
In the other direction, the airline’s flight NK410 is scheduled to leave FLL at 7:00 a.m. and arrive at BWI at 9:30 a.m. Flight NK240 (which will begin on September 5) will depart FLL at 8:20 p.m. and land at BWI at 10:50 p.m.
