Spirit Airlines is launching daily services linking Philadelphia International Airport to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

With these additions, by April 29 Spirit Airlines will be operating non-stop service from Philadelphia to eight U.S. cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles (Spirit’s Philadelphia-Los Angeles service starts on April 14), and Myrtle Beach.

Philadelphia is a hub stronghold for the merged American Airlines-US Airways combination and a sizable “focus city” for Southwest Airlines.

Spirit Airlines now operates more than 375 flights a day to 56 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Fort Lauderdale-based carrier operates a fleet comprised entirely of Airbus A320-family jets.

Spirit currently has 78 A320-family aircraft in its fleet and holds firm orders for another 47 A320-family aircraft and 55 A320neo-family jets.
