SkyWest Airlines will operate twice-weekly seasonal service on behalf of Alaska Airlines between Seattle and the ski resort area of Hayden/Steamboat Springs in Colorado this winter.

The twice-weekly flights will operate from December 18, 2013 through March 29, 2014. SkyWest Airlines will operate the flights for Alaska Airlines using 70-seat Bombardier CRJ700 regional jets.

“This will be Alaska Airlines’ first Colorado ski destination, giving our customers in the Pacific Northwest the first-ever non-stop service to world-class skiing in the Western Colorado Rockies,” says Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing. “Steamboat is a family-friendly resort famous worldwide for its authentic western atmosphere and champagne powder snow.”

To promote the new service, Alaska Airlines is offering introductory fares from $119 each way, including all taxes and fees. Tickets must be purchased by July 26 for travel from December 18, 2013, through March 29, 2014.

The sale fare requires a 21-day advance purchase and is available for travel only on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. All travel must be completed by March 29, 2014. No travel is allowed on the blackout dates of December 21 and December 28, 2013.

SkyWest Airlines’ flights for Alaska Airlines on the Seattle-Hayden/Steamboat Springs route will depart Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (IATA code SEA) at 1:35 pm. each Wednesday and Saturday from December 18 through March 29 and will touch down at Yampa Valley-Hayden Airport (HDN, which is near Hayden and is the nearest transport-category airport to Steamboat Springs) at 4:50 p.m. local time.

In the other direction, the return flight will leave HDN at 5:25 p.m. and reach SEA at 6:50 p.m. local time.

Steamboat Springs, which has hosted World Cup alpine skiing competitions, has 165 trails, 3,668 vertical feet of skiing and nearly 3,000 acres of ski-able area on six peaks filled with groomed runs and meadows, as well as four terrain parks. Steamboat Springs is approximately 25 miles east of Yampa Valley-Hayden Airport.

Customers on flights operated by SkyWest Airlines receive free soft drinks and Starbucks coffee, A la Cart planeside baggage service, and complimentary Northwest wine and microbrews for passengers 21 years and older.
