Subject to receiving government approval, JetBlue Airways plans to launch daily non-stop service between Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and Juan Santamaría International Airport serving San José, the capital of Costa Rica, on June 27.

Tickets are available for purchase at www.jetblue.com/new on January 16 from $129 one way from Fort Lauderdale to San José for travel between June 27 and August 8, 2013. Blackout dates apply.

Costa Rica’s Minister of Tourism, Allan Flores, joined JetBlue Airways officials in announcing the route earlier today in a press conference at the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) in San José.

“We begin the new year with this important piece of news which reiterates our clear airline attraction policy, which we’ve pushed hard, focusing our efforts in getting closer to the main tourism outbound markets,” said Flores. “This new offer on JetBlue’s behalf materializes the negotiations done to Costa Rica’s benefit.”

JetBlue’s schedule between Fort Lauderdale and San José will see the carrier’s flight leaving Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (IATA code FLL) daily from June 27 at 9:45 a.m. and landing at San José’s Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) at 10:39 a.m. local time.

In the other direction ,the return flight is timed to depart SJO at 1:00 p.m. and touch down at FLL at 6:09 p.m. local time.

JetBlue Airways will operate its flights between Fort Lauderdale and San José with Airbus A320 aircraft.
