El Al Israel Airlines has opened a new premium-class lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Named “Art & Lounge,” the new lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport is located on the Gate Level of Terminal B nearby the El Al check-in counters and next to the duty free shops.

According to El Al, the spacious lounge will serve as a setting for changing exhibitions of contemporary Israeli art and video art.

The Luxury Lounges Ltd. Company established the lounge, designing the space to suit the expected design and art installations.

El Al’s new lounge has seating for 90 guests on modern-design couches and chairs in various seating arrangements. It offers complimentary Wi-Fi and business services, as well as Hebrew and English language newspapers and magazines.

In addition to Kosher refreshments, a freshly prepared dairy buffet selection of fruits, a vegetable salad bar, cheese, breads, and sweet and salty baked goods are offered.  A “health corner” has granola, dried fruit, yogurt and silan (dates and honey).

In addition to cappuccino and espresso, other hot and cold beverages such as red and white wine and beer are served.

The culinary menu was designed by Israeli food expert Shmulik Markus, CEO of Restotel, a leading consulting firm in Israel specializing in the hospitality industry. Markus created a menu specifically catering to the needs of pre-boarding passengers, to ensure a comfortable flight.

El Al says it will make a continuing effort to expose its guests in the Art & Lounge to various art media with thought-provoking messages. With this in mind, the lounge’s current art installation, called Window Seat, was specially arranged for the inauguration.

This exhibit, created by Israeli artists, gives expression to airport movement and vitality. according to El Al. The video art is displayed on several flat-screen TVs of different dimensions.

“This new lounge meets the high standards of service and comfort as well as quality food offerings that we provide to our passengers,” says Daniel Saadon, vice president, North and Central America for El Al. “To enhance the total El Al experience, we are pleased to offer this trend-setting pre-flight experience in a contemporary and serene atmosphere.”

    El Al Airlines meals are all certified as kosher. This lounge provides both kosher and non-kosher products and there is no kosher certification of prepared foods. Prepacked products will bear kosher symbols if they are kosher-certified.
