The Honolulu services will complements Alaska Airlines’ existing daily nonstop flights from Oakland and San Jose to Hawaii’s other three major destinations: Kona on the Big Island; Lihue on the island of Kauai; and Kahului on Maui.


Alaska Airlines is offering a special introductory fare of $149 each way on its new Honolulu routes for tickets purchased by November 4, 2011, for travel between April 10 and June 9, 2012. The introductory sale fare is only good for travel on Mondays through Thursdays.

A ticket purchased at an Alaska Airlines airport location or through a reservation call center will cost $15 more per person than the advertised fare. A $20 baggage fee will apply for each of the first three checked bags. Additional fees apply to check more than three bags and for overweight or over-sized items.

Alaska Airlines offers nine daily flights to Hawaii from Oakland, San Jose and Sacramento including the new services announced on November 1. During the peak winter travel season, Alaska Airlines offers 24 flights a day to Hawaii from Anchorage and seven West Coast cities, including Bellingham, Seattle, Portland and San Diego, as well as Oakland, San Jose and Sacramento.

“These new flights provide customers in the Bay Area with convenient daily service to all four of the major Hawaiian Islands, including the Big Island, Maui, Kauai and now Oahu,” says Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing.

From April 10, Alaska Airlines’ Oakland-Honolulu flight will leave Oakland International Airport (OAK) at 8:55 a.m. and arrive at Honolulu International Airport (HNL) at 11:20 a.m. local time. In the other direction, the flight will depart HNL at 1:55 p.m. and land at OAK at 9:55 p.m. local time.

Beginning on the same day, Alaska Airline’s San Jose-Honolulu flight will push back from the gate at San Jose’s Norman Y. Mineta International Airport (SJC) at 10:30 a.m. and touch down at HNL at 12:55 p.m. local time. In the other direction, the carrier’s flight will begin taxiing at HNL at 12:20 p.m. and will reach SJC at 8:20 p.m. local time.
