The airline will begin twice-weekly BWI-Aruba service on December 17, 2011, with service on Saturdays and Sundays.

AirTran Airways is adding a new nonstop destination in the Caribbean from Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), with Saturday and Sunday service to Aruba (AUA).

The airline will begin BWI-Aruba service on December 17, 2011. AirTran Airways already flies nonstop between BWI and Bermuda, Montego Bay, Cancun, Nassau/Paradise Island, and San Juan.


AirTran Airways is offering an introductory one-way fare of $159 plus taxes and fees for travel between December 17, 2011, and March 14, 2012.  Customers must book the fare by September 16, at www.airtran.com.

Travel blackout dates for the sale fare to Aruba are December 24, January 14, January 15, February 18 and February 19. Travel blackout dates for the sale fare from Aruba are December 31, January 1, January 7, January 21, February 25 and February 26.

The sale fare is valid for travel only on Saturdays and Sundays. All fares are one-way and the introductory fare does not include Airport Passenger Facility Charges of up to $18 round-trip; a September 11th security fee of up to $10 round-trip; segment taxes of $3.70 per segment (a segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing; and additional government taxes of up to $100.

A first bag may be checked for a fee of $20 each way and a second bag may be checked for a fee of $25 each way. Reservations may be made via AirTran Airways Telephone Reservations Center for a fee of $15. Reservations may also be changed via AirTran Airways Telephone Reservations Center for a $15 fee plus any applicable change fees and fare differences.
