Through a regional airline partner, Air Canada will begin three-times-daily scheduled service to Red Deer in Alberta on September 3.
Under the Air Canada Express brand, Air Georgian will operate the three daily round-trips between Red Deer Regional Airport (IATA code YQF) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) using 18-seat Beech 1900D turboprops.
Air Georgian will become the second commercial carrier to serve Red Deed Regional Airport. Northwestern Air, which has a fleet of BAe Jetstream 31s and Jetstream 32s, as well as a Beech 99, operates flights from Red Deer to Fort McMurray in Alberta and to Kelowna in British Columbia.
“Reflecting the general strength of the Alberta economy, we are pleased to start scheduled service from Red Deer, linking Central Alberta conveniently and directly to our Calgary hub,” says Marcel Forget, vice president, network planning for Air Canada. “Flights have been scheduled to enable easy connections to Air Canada’s extensive domestic, U.S. and international network via Calgary.”
Flights are available for purchase at www.aircanada.com and through travel agents. Sample introductory one-way fares (including all taxes) from Red Deer include Vancouver, C$188; Toronto, C$277; Halifax, C$334; Newark, C$299; Los Angeles, C$231.
In addition, customers collect Aeroplan Miles in loyalty program Aeroplan when traveling with Air Canada.
“This new air service is a tremendous step in our continuing push to enhance business and leisure air travel opportunities for the residents of Central Alberta,” says R J Steenstra, CEO of the Red Deer Airport Authority.
“Central Albertans will now be connected to Canada and the rest of the world through Air Canada and its alliance partners,” adds Steenstra. “This new service will be of tremendous benefit to business and commerce in the area and that is a very exciting prospect.”
