Silver Airways will expand its route network within Florida this spring by launching daily scheduled services on April 15 connecting Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) with Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Tampa International Airport (TPA).
The carrier, which is a Continental Connection franchisee and was known as Gulfstream International Airlines until it was renamed Silver Airways on December 15, 2011, will operate its Gainesville-Orlando route daily in each direction.
Silver Airways will offer two round-trips between Gainesville and Tampa on weekdays, switching to once-daily service on weekends.
Tickets on the new flights are on sale at introductory rates of $49 each way, plus taxes and service charges, for departures beginning April 15. The introductory fares are available on bookings made by March 5. For Silver Airways reservations, visit www.continental.com.

The launch of the new services will coincide with the opening of Silver Airways’ new maintenance facility at Gainesville Regional Airport.
In January, the airline announced its intention to relocate its maintenance department from its home base at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport to a new, modern 61,000 square-foot facility at GNV. The move will be completed by April 2012, according to the airline.
“This new service better connects the Gainesville community with the world,” says Darrell Richardson, CEO of Silver Airways. “Our codeshare agreement with United/Continental will enable travelers from Gainesville to connect seamlessly in Orlando and Tampa to non-stop flights covering much of the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe. You’ll only need to check your bags once, and you won’t need multiple tickets either.”
Silver Airways will operate both 19-seat Beechcraft 1900D and 34-seat Saab 340Bplus regional turboprops on its new Gainesville services. The airline is currently in the process of upgrading its fleet to the Saab 340Bplus, with six of the aircraft planned to be in service on its Florida and Bahamas routes later this year.
