On December 12, 2013, three days after it merged with US Airways, American Airlines, Inc. ordered 60 Embraer 175s and optioned 90 more. They would add to at least 47 Embraer 175s already ordered by Republic Airlines for operation on the American Eagle network, as well as many Embraer 175s already operated by regional partners for the US Airways Express network
