JetBlue Airways is launching daily, non-stop, year-round service between Buffalo Niagara International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport on June 16.
The announcement was made on February 1 at the airport in Buffalo by JetBlue President and CEO Robin Hayes and U.S. Senator Charles ‘Chuck’ Schumer of New York.

Tickets for the new service are now available for purchase, with introductory one-way fares starting at $99. Travel must be booked by February 2, by the earlier of 11:59 PM ET or local time.
Travel under the introductory fares is valid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between June 16 and June 29, 2016.
JetBlue’s schedule on the Buffalo-Los Angeles route will see flight B6 491 depart Buffalo Niagara International Airport (IATA code BUF) at 6:40 p.m. daily from June 16 and reach Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 9:06 p.m. local time.
In the other direction, flight B6 492 will leave LAX at 10:09 p.m. daily from June 16 and land at BUF at 6:05 a.m. the following morning, local time.
JetBlue Airways painted Airbus A320 N709JB in a new special livery, ‘Binary Code’, and renamed the aircraft ‘CONNECTED TO 01000010 01001100 01010101 01000101’, to to promote its Fly-Fi service, which provides passengers with broadband Internet in-flight. JetBlue will operate the route using Airbus A320 aircraft, each initially fitted with 150 seats but by 2019 all given 12 extra seats to produce a 162-seat configuration.
“Los Angeles is the most frequent destination for travelers from Buffalo that does not already have a direct flight,” says Senator Charles Schumer. In 2013, I asked JetBlue to add this flight, knowing it would be a game changer for regional tourism in Western New York, and I am now thrilled they have heeded our call.”
Adds Schumer: “The addition of this flight will not only dramatically increase travel options for Buffalonians, it will also bring even more Canadian travelers through the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.” said Schumer.
Buffalo Niagara International Airport, located 11 miles from downtown Buffalo and the U.S. side of the Niagara River, is the busiest airport in upstate New York.

In addition to the Buffalo community, the airport is also an attractive gateway to some 2 million Canadian travelers who use the airport annually to benefit from lower taxes and more competitive fares to U.S. destinations, according to JetBlue.
JetBlue’s Buffalo-Los Angeles route announcement comes as the airline prepares to mark the 16th anniversary of its first flight from Buffalo.
Today, JetBlue serves nine markets in California non-stop from New York State, which the carrier says is three times more than any other airline.
JetBlue also says that when it launches the new Buffalo-Los Angeles route, it will be operating 36 unique transcontinental routes.

New York-based JetBlue also claims to be the only airline to operate a non-stop flight between upstate New York and California.
JetBlue serves eight airports in New York State. In December JetBlue started serving state capital Albany and last month added more service from Syracuse.
The carrier also serves the airports at Newburgh, Rochester, Westchester County, New York LaGuardia and New York JFK, which is its home base and largest hub.
From JetBlue’s Terminal 5 at New York JFK, the airline operates non-stop flights to 70 destinations in the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America.
