Japan Airlines will places its ‘JL’ flight code on flights operated by Qatar Airways between Tokyo’s Narita International Airport and Doha, as well as between Osaka Kansai International Airport and Doha.


At the Paris Air Show on June 17, 2013, Qatar Airways revealed it was the previously undisclosed customer for two Boeing 777-300ERs. Qatar Airways also signed a new commitment for seven additional 777-300ERs on June 17 at the show, though the commitment was not initially a firm order

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways will place its ‘QR’ flight code on JAL-operated flights linking Narita International Airport and Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport and Fukuoka.

Qatar Airways will also place its code on Japan Airlines flights from Tokyo Haneda Airport and New Chitose Airport to Osaka Kansai International Airport.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will also codeshare on Japan Airlines flights from Osaka’s downtown Itami Airport to Tokyo Narita; from Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair International Airport to Tokyo Narita; and from Tokyo Narita to Naha Airport on the island of Okinawa far south of the main Japanese islands.

After its launch in 1997, Qatar Airways quickly established itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing and highest-quality airlines and joined the oneworld alliance on October 30.

At that time, it operated a fleet of 130 aircraft and its fleet was one of the world’s youngest, with an average age of four years, including the Boeing 787.

Qatar Airways boarded 17 million passengers in 2012. It serves more than 130 key business and leisure destinations in 70 countries throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa, North and South America, Asia and Australasia from its hub at Doha International Airport. Doha is the capital of the State of Qatar.

Reservations and sales of new codeshare flights will begin at 3:00 p.m. Japanese Standard Time on December 3.

Japan Airlines will put the flight number JL7995 on Qatar Airways’ flight QR807 from Tokyo Narita (IATA code NRT) to Doha (DOH). This flight leaves NRT at 10:30 p.m. daily and lands at DOH at 4:30 a.m.the following morning, local time.

In the other direction, Japan Airlines will put the flight number JL7994 to Qatar Airways flight QR806. This flight departs DOH at 1:25 a.m. daily and reaches NRT at 4:55 p.m. local time.

Additionally, JAL will put the flight number JL7997 on Qatar Airways flight QR803 from Osaka Kansai (KIX) to Doha. This flight leaves KIX at 10:40 p.m. daily and lands at DOH at 5:10 a.m. the following morning, local time. From December 24, the flight will not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

In the other direction, Japan Airlines will put the flight number JL7996 on Qatar Airways flight QR802 from Doha to Osaka Kansai. This flight departs DOH at 1:45 a.m. daily and reaches KIX at 5:00 p.m. the same day, local time. From December 24, the flight will not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
