EVA Air and Singapore Airlines Start Codesharing

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Taiwanese carrier EVA Air have signed and launched a codeshare agreement.

As a result of the new codeshare agreement, Singapore Airlines and EVA Air customers traveling between Singapore and Taipei now have a choice of three daily flights: one operated by EVA Air and two by SIA.

The Boeing 777-300ER forms the backbone of Taiwanese airline Eva Air’s long-haul fleet. EVA Air, which is a Star Alliance member, operates and has on order a total of 22 777-300ERs, which have largely replaced Boeing 747-400s in the airline’s fleet

EVA Air and Singapore Airlines are both members of the Star Alliance.

Under the agreement, SIA will add its ‘SQ’ flight code to EVA Air-operated flights between Singapore and Taipei. EVA Air currently operates one daily round-trip between the two cities.

On a reciprocal basis, EVA Air will add its ‘BR’ flight code to Singapore Airlines-operated flights between Singapore and Taipei. Singapore Airlines currently operates two daily round-trips on the route.

The two airlines’ codeshare schedule on the Singapore-Taipei route sees SIA’s flight SQ876 (which now also bears the EVA Air flight number BR3902) leaving Singapore Changin International Airport (IATA code SIN) daily at 8:30 a.m. and arriving at Taipei’s Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at 1:05 p.m.

Singapore Airlines has a total of 27 Boeing 777-300ERs in service and on order

Singapore and Taipei are in the same time zone.

SIA’s flight SQ878 (which now also has the EVA Air flight number BR3904) departs SIN daily at 11:55 a.m. and reaches TPE at 4:30 p.m. Then EVA Air flight BR226 (which now also bears the SIA flight number SQ5806) pushes back from the gate at SIN daily at 1:10 p.m. and gets to TPE at 5:40 p.m.

In the other direction, EVA Air flight BR225 (which now also bears the SIA flight number SQ5805) leaves TPE daily at 7:40 a.m. and touches down at SIN at 12:05 p.m.

Then, SIA’s flight SQ 877 (which also gets the EVA Air flight number BR3901) departs TPE daily at 2:10 p.m. and gets to SIN at 6:50 p.m. SIA flight SQ879 (which also bears the EVA Air flight number BR3903) pushes back from the gate at TPE daily at 5:35 p.m. and arrives at SIN at 10:15 p.m.
