American Airlines and British Airways have received approval from the Indian government to place American’s ‘AA’ flight code on British Airways’ flights from London to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
The codeshare allows American Airlines to place its code on the flights of British Airways between the United States and India via London Heathrow Airport.
British Airways is America’s fellow oneworld member and joint transatlantic business partner.

The Boeing 777 plays an important role in British Airways' long-haul fleet. The carrier operates three 777-200s, 43 777-200ERs and is taking delivery of six 777-300ERs
The new codeshare flights are now available for sale, with the first travel date being March 29.
Placement of American’s ‘AA’ code on British Airways’ flights to India complements American’s existing service to India through partner airline Jet Airways via Brussels.
“This new codeshare relationship will give our customers extra options and easier access to India while enjoying the excellent service British Airways has to offer,” says Kenji Hashimoto, American’s vice president – strategic alliances. “Adding convenience for our joint customers is one of our primary goals and our network is able to grow because of this new codeshare agreement.”
Members of the American Airlines AAdvantage frequent-flyer program will be able to earn miles on the codeshare flights on BA.
