Through its TAP Express regional brand, TAP Portugal has become an operator of Embraer’s E-Jets family.
TAP Portugal has acquired nine used Embraer 190s, making TAP the first Portuguese operator of Embraer E-Jets.

TAP Portugal’s regional-airline brand TAP Express was the first Portuguese carrier to operate Embraer’s E-Jets family, when it launched commercial service with nine used Embraer 190s on May 23, 2016
It is using the Brazilian-made aircraft to replace in TAP Express service a fleet of aging Fokker 100s operated by TAP’s former regional brand, Portugalia PGA Airlines.
The Fokker 100s were in regional-airline service on behalf of TAP Portugal for more than 25 years, according to Embraer.
TAP Express began operating its Embraer 190s commercially on May 23, offering scheduled flights from its hub at Lisbon Portela Airport to various destinations in intra-European network.
Its first Embraer 190 flight, TP488, operated from Lisbon to Nice in France.

Under its TAP Express regional-airline brand, TAP Portugal is operating nine used Embraer 190s on intra-Europe routes. Its first commercial Embraer 190 flight, from Lisbon to Nice, took place on May 23, 2016. The aircraft involved is seen here at Nice Airport after landing
“For the complete renewal of its regional fleet as well as the improvement of the product and services offered, it is with great anticipation that TAP launches the new E190 into operation, which provides a new dimension of comfort and newness that will surprise our passengers,” said Fernando Pinto, CEO of TAP POrtugal.
“With its entry into service, TAP Express now has the youngest fleet in the market it serves, thus positioning itself more competitively in relation to its counterparts,” added Pinto.
TAP Express has configured each of its Embraer 190s to seat 106 passengers.
