Aircraft orders: Latam Airlines takes over 13 Airbus A321neo

Latam Airlines has a firm order for 13 additional Airbus A321neos, bringing its total purchases to 75 units. The devices will be designed to take 224 passengers.

A sign that South American air transport is starting to regain color and regain a certain financial solidity, Latam Airlines has just placed a firm order for 13 additional Airbus A321neos. At the end of August 2023, the airline already had 62 still to be received alongside 18 A320neo out of the 38 ordered. These additional A321neos are accompanied by the delivery of the first A321neo taken under a lease agreement with AerCap. Which makes a total of 76.

Accommodation for 224 passengers and optimized luggage storage

The Airbus A321neo rented and received has been fitted out to accommodate 224 passengers. It is equipped with the new cabin baggage storage formula which can accommodate four pieces of luggage stored vertically per trunk, real comfort for passengers but also crew. These new chests are also possible in retrofit. Work carried out in particular by EFW in its workshops. Lufthansa has also entrusted EFW with this retrofit work on 38 Airbus A320s in its fleet. The required disassembly and assembly modifications require three to five days of work.

The largest Airbus fleet in Latin America

Latam Airlines is the largest Airbus fleet in Latin America, in terms of number of aircraft ordered (264), aircraft received (184) and aircraft in service (259 including rentals). Followed by Volaris (220/77/124), Avianca (163/75/115), JETSMART (90/10/17) and Viva Aerobus (80/57/78).
