Wizz Air, second largest customer of the Airbus A321neo
With a new order for 75 Airbus A321neo, Wizz Air has become the second biggest customer of the Airbus A321neo with now a total of 434 units ordered, ahead of AirAsia (366 still on the Airbus backlog) and behind Indigo still in head with its 765 copies ordered. Following far behind Air Lease Corp. (259), Frontier Airlines (176), Delta Air Lines (155), AerCap (143), VietJet (138), American Airlines and Volaris (124).
75 Airbus A321neo family aircraft
The Airbus press release specifies that these 75 additional copies are from the Airbus A321neo family. The device is available in three versions: the basic one, the A321LR and the A321XLR. On the other hand, the manufacturer does not specify the distribution and this will be done according to the needs of the airline.
Nearly 5,200 Airbus A321neos ordered?
Airbus indicates that nearly 5,200 Airbus A321neo have been ordered worldwide since the launch of the program at the end of 2010. However, at the end of June 2023, the manufacturer’s order book showed 5,163 sales and 5,163 + Wizz Air’s 75 = 5,238. So, we are not “close to” but “more than”. Two explanations: the order was already taken into account in the line of undisclosed customers, or Airbus has also recorded cancellations. Some may wince in front of these apothecary calculations but it’s summer, it’s freezing cold and we’re having fun as we can.
