Air Transat will serve North Africa with a new non-stop service between Canada and Morocco for the upcoming summer season, beginning June 12, 2024. It will fly between Montreal and Marrakech, being the only North American airline to operate to this Moroccan city.
Currently, the airlines operating between Canada and Morocco are Air Canada and Royal Air Maroc, both offering non-stop flights between Montreal and Casablanca. Air Transat will be the third carrier in this market.
Marrakech joins the list of vacation destinations offered by the Canadian company across the Atlantic; the others being Bordeaux, Nantes, Basel-Mulhouse (Switzerland), Faro (Portugal), Malaga (Spain), Zagreb (Croatia) and Lamezia Terme (Italy).
Marrakech represents 24% of Canadian tourist arrivals in Morocco. The Moroccan Tourism Office reported that seat capacity from Canada to Morocco has increased by 87% over the past 10 years, from 87,000 to 164,000 seats per year.
