According to the Mauritian newspaper L’Express.mutwo senior executives of the national airline of Mauritius have been temporarily dismissed from their positions and Air Mauritius is investigating a possible act of corruption.
Last December, Kresimir Kucko was named the new director of the island state’s national airline. The former boss of Croatia Airlines and Gulf Air was supposed to get them out of trouble and prepare them for the future, but he is now suspended.
Besides Kucko, Air Mauritius has also placed CFO Jean Laval Ah Chip on leave for the moment. The interim management of the airline will be ensured by operational head Alain Leing Hing Wah and commercial head Laurent Recoura. The supervisory board cites concerns about corporate governance principles as the reason.
A matter linked to travel costs in France…
Local media are reporting in detail what exactly this means. More specifically, it is about a trip by Kucko and Ah Chip to France. The costs were entirely covered by the leasing company Aercap. It also rents planes to Air Mauritius.
The airline has now commissioned independent investigators to determine whether this may have been an act of corruption. The executives will remain suspended until the results of the investigation are available.
