Air France: service to Mali suspended until at least March 2024

Air France extend the suspension of his connection between Paris-CDG and the Malian capital Bamakoat least until the start of the next summer season, in March 2024according to the radio RFI.

The French airline had decided unilaterally to suspend its flights to Bamako on August 7, justifying this decision with the “ coup d’état in Niger ” And ” the geopolitical situation » in the Sahel. On October 10, it announced the resumption of its flights to Bamako by chartering a Boeing 777-200ER from the Portuguese company EuroAtlantic Airways. However, the Malian authorities ultimately withdrew their green light.

Asked by RFI, Air France invoked “ operational reasons » to explain this new deadline. Before the military coup in Niger in July 2023, a takeover supported by the authorities of Mali and Burkina Faso, the French national airline operated a daily flight between its Paris-CDG base and Bamako airport. -Modibo Keita, in a Boeing 777-200ER that can accommodate 40 passengers in Business class, 24 in Premium and 216 in Economy.

Furthermore, Air France and its low-cost subsidiary Transavia are suspending their connections to Israel until further notice. As a result, flights scheduled to and from Tel Aviv until December 17, 2023 are canceled.
