The airline company Air Corsica inaugurated a new link between Bastia And Romethe second to the Italian capital.
Since July 3 and until September 1, 2023, the Corsican company has been offering two flights a week between its base in Bastia Poretta and the airport of Rome-Fiumicino, operated by ATR 72-500 with 70 seats (i.e. an offer of 2,600 seats). Departures are scheduled for Monday and Friday at 3:05 p.m. to arrive at 4:00 p.m., with “return” flights leaving Italy at 1:40 p.m. to land at 2:35 p.m.
No competition for Air Corsica on this route “which follows the success of last year” of flights connecting Ajaccio to Rome; the potential of the Italian market having been identified by the Corsica Tourism Agency (ATC), the company “positions itself to expand its non-public service network and its openness to Europe”. The inaugural flight from Bastia yesterday “already showed a very good load factor with almost 70% of the capacity of the reserved plane”, underlines a press release. A call price at 99€ including tax one way is displayed, including the free carrying of checked baggage weighing 23 kg.
In addition, a commercial code-sharing agreement between Air Corsica and the airline ITA Airways “will also facilitate travel for Italian customers”, particularly from Sardinia, Sicily and the whole of Italy.
Marie-Hélène Casanova-Servas, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Air Corsica, declared: ” After the success of the Ajaccio/Rome line last year, continued this summer, I am delighted with the opening of this new Italian service, decided in collaboration with the ATC, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Corsica, and which seems promised the same performance: the good occupancy rates already recorded lead us to believe that the objectives of 70% average occupancy over the period will be achieved. Our offer to Italy will then be extended to the off-season with, in September, the service to Milanofrom and to Calvi and Figari. By opening up new markets, Air Corsica is applying its development strategy aimed at connecting Corsica and Europe with direct flights “.
