Air Austral celebrates 20 years of flights between Paris and Reunion

The airline company Air Austral celebrated on Wednesday twentieth anniversary of its link between the French capital and the island of The meeting – with contest and exhibition at stake.

20 years ago to the day June 28, 2003the French company “born from the desire of local authorities in Reunion, the Reunion region and the General Council, then shareholders” embarked on the adventure of long-haul : in the evening, two planes in the colors of Air Austral took off almost simultaneously from Paris-Charles-de-Gaullein the direction of the airport of Saint Denis Roland Garros. On this axis currently served up to twice a day by Boeing 777-300ER which can accommodate 18 passengers in Business class, 40 in Premium and 384 in Economy (442 seats), Air Austral “continues to open up new prospects for travelers who wish to discover new horizons”, strengthening “the economic and cultural links between mainland France and Reunion”.

Twenty years after its first long-haul flights, “backed by its 950 employees, the support of its shareholders and its partners”, Air Austral recalls that it has been able to weather the crises and establish itself “as a safe bet, a symbol links between mainland France and the Indian Ocean” The airline transports an average of 1.2 million passengers per year, including more than 500,000 between mainland France, Reunion and Mayotte. It now serves Reunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues, Mayotte, the Comoros, Madagascar (Tananarive, Tamatave, Nosy Be, Diego, Fort Dauphin & Tulear), the Seychelles or even South Africa and Thailand (Bangkok).
