Barcelona continues its fight against overtourism. From next autumn, the port of Barcelona North, the closest to the city center, will no longer welcome cruise ships. The pier will cease to operate as a cruise terminal from October 2, the day the last ship departs.
The Catalan Administration has chosen to follow the example of Amsterdam, which has prohibited cruise passengers from joining the landing stage closest to the city center, to limit the inconvenience to citizens, as we published in our article of last July 22:
From October 22, the area will be reserved for commercial port activity only, and disembarkation will therefore only be authorized for merchant ships.
