The airline company Aeroflot rekindled a connection between Moscow And Varaderothrough its subsidiary Rossiya and avoiding airspaces closed to it following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Since July 1, 2023 after 18 months of interruption of flights to Cuba, the subsidiary of the Russian national company offers two flights per week between Moscow-Sheremetyevo and the airport of Varaderooperated by Boeing 777-300ER (the initial rotation was operated by the one registered RA-73277 according to Flightradar24, a re-registered ex-AerCap).

Due to restrictions, the flight of about 2:45 p.m. departed from Moscow to the north, bypassed Finland, passed between Iceland and Greenland before heading south towards the Caribbean along (at a good distance) the States States, and land in the Cuban resort.

Aeroflot suspended flights to the region four days after the start of the war in Ukraine on February 28, 2022. It launched service to Cuba in 1962.
