A tropical storm moves from the Philippines towards Taiwan

Jenny (Koinu) strengthened from a tropical storm to a severe tropical storm on Sunday morning, October 1, while remaining over the Philippine Sea.

Its maximum sustained winds increased from 85 km/h to 95 km/h, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in a press briefing after 11 a.m. Sunday.

Jenny’s gusts also increased from 105 km/h to 115 km/h.

The severe tropical storm was already 790 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan at 10 a.m. It is moving west-northwest at a slightly slower speed of 15 km/h compared to the previous 20 km/h.

The storm would head towards the south of the island of Taiwan
