With the signing of this contract, Poland will soon have 794 modern multiple rocket launchers. This strike force will then become the base of Polish conventional deterrence: a combined salvo of these systems can fire almost 6,500 large-caliber rockets with an accuracy of only a few meters!
486 HIMARS for Poland
On February 7, 2023, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) authorized a possible sale of 486 multiple rocket launchers M142 HIMARS or their weapon system. A purchase announcement of approximately 300 K239 multiple rocket launchers Chunmoo, followed by a contract for 288 Chunmoo left doubt over the purchase of the total number of HIMARS. However, on September 11, 2023, Mariusz Błaszczak, Polish Minister of Defense, signed a purchase contract of 486 M142 HIMARS.
