The US State Department has approved an FMS sale to the Government of Lithuania, including medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) worth approximately $100 million.

Sale of AMRAAM missiles to Lithuania for $100 million.

The Department of State has approved an FMS-type sale to the Government of Lithuania. These are AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air (AMRAAM) missiles and associated equipment, at an estimated cost of $100 million. Lithuania has requested to purchase thirty-six Raytheon AMRAAM AIM-120C-8 missiles. Also included are various equipment, spare parts, consumables, accessories and support for repair and return of equipment.

This sale is surprising because Lithuania does not, to our knowledge, have a fighter plane and it would not be the Sol Air version of the AMRAAM, the SL-AMRAAM.
