JetBlue A320s to Get Fewer Additional Seats than Originally Planned

JetBlue Airways has decided to install 162 seats rather than the originally planned 165 seats in retrofitting each of its Airbus A320 jets with new cabin interiors. Each JetBlue A320 currently has 150 seats, so JetBlue’s A320 cabin refurbishment will see it add 12 more seats in each aircraft.

Airbus is introducing new, larger, pivoting overhead bins as an optional fit for A320-family aircraft in the first quarter of 2016, with Delta Air Lines being the first customer. Also, with Zodiac Aerospace, Airbus is developing a new version of the integrated ‘Space-Flex’ A320 lavatory-and-galley module.

The two new options allow more flexibility and increase the number of seats which can be installed, for the same comfort standard, according to Airbus. In addition, the new options raise the Airbus A321neo’s maximum exit limit beyond 220 seats, to as many as 236.
