Monarch Airlines has expanded its flight program for summer 2012, introducing new scheduled flights to Barcelona and Nice from Birmingham Airport. Monarch has also launched its first program of flights from its new UK base, East Midlands Airport, to Mediterranean leisure destinations.

Through subsidiary BA CityFlyer, British Airways is increasing its leisure-service offering from London City Airport to Southern European sunspot destinations to 41 flights a week at the height of the 2011 summer season.
