According to a new Harris Poll, most Americans who fly at least once a year would be willing to pay for extra legroom on a flight of three hours or more and over half would be willing to pay more to avoid sitting in a middle seat on a flight of the same length ‒ as long as the additional fee is $50 or less.

The Consumer Travel Alliance has released an analysis showing that hidden fees charged by airlines on popular U.S. domestic routes can increase the base cost of an airline ticket by an average of 54 per cent for a typical traveler with two checked bags and extra legroom, or by an average of 26 per cent for a comparable one-bag traveler.
