American and US Airways Expect to Complete Merger on December 9

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York has approved the settlement that AMR Corporation and US Airways Group, Inc. reached with the DOJ and several U.S. states of the lawsuit the two companies filed against them. It has also ruled that the merger may be consummated despite the fact a private antitrust lawsuit is still pending against the two companies.

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. and Subsidiaries File for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

On April 1, Pinnacle Airlines Corp. and its subsidiaries Colgan Air and Pinnacle Airlines filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code for protection from creditors and existing contracts.

American Airlines’ parent company AMR Corporation and certain of its United States-based subsidiaries (including American Airlines and American Eagle) have voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization under U.S. law.
