Frontier Airlines will begin charging a fee for carry-on bags to passengers who buy discount tickets on the airline through all external booking channels, including third-party booking sites. Beginning Monday, August 6, American Airlines customers who purchase the new Baggage Delivery Service can bypass the airport baggage claim upon arrival and have their bags delivered to their office, home, hotel or wherever else their final destination may be.

Now airlines and ticket agents must include all mandatory taxes and fees in published airfares and they must disclose baggage fees to consumers buying tickets. Passengers will also be able to hold a reservation without payment, or cancel a booking without penalty for 24 hours after the reservation is made, if they book a week or more before departure date.

The new consumer protections, finalized earlier this year, include requirements that airlines refund baggage fees if bags are lost, increase compensation provided to passengers bumped from oversold flights, and provide passengers greater protections from lengthy tarmac delays.
