Express bus company Megabus.com is expanding to the southern United States by creating a seventh hub in Atlanta.
Megabus.com will offer service from Atlanta to 11 cities: Birmingham, Mobile and Montgomery in Alabama; Charlotte, North Carolina; Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville in Tennessee; and Gainesville, Jacksonville and Orlando in Florida.
Service will begin on November 16 and customers can now book travel to and from Atlanta at www.megabus.com, where they can also find additional information about the service, schedules, arrival and departure times and fares.
The company offers fares from $1. Megabus.com operates all services on at least a daily basis. Fares shown are one-way and include all government taxes.
Megabus.com will offer daily departures from its stop location on the street level at MARTA’s Civic Center station in downtown Atlanta. The curbside bus stop is just south of the intersection of West Peachtree Street NW and Pine Street NE., on the northbound side of West Peachtree Street NW.
The Civic Center station is on MARTA’s Gold and Red lines, offering fast connections via rail throughout the Atlanta metro and to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Customers are encouraged to book early to secure $1 fares. Megabus.com says its fares always start at very low levels and get higher as the traveling date gets closer.
“Megabus.com has rapidly become the travel option of choice for millions of people and today we’re excited to bring our unique travel option to Atlanta and the southeast region,” said Dale Moser, president and chief operating officer of Megabus.com. “As Americans continue to look for ways to stretch their income, we look forward to providing safe, convenient and affordable travel to the millions of Atlanta-area residents.”
A subsidiary of Coach USA, Megabus.com began operations on April 10, 2006 and is one of the largest intercity express bus service providers in North America, transporting more than 13 million travelers since it began commercial service. In addition to affordable fares, megabus.com offers customers modern, environmentally friendly buses with free Wi-Fi, power outlets and restrooms.
The bus line serves more than 70 major cities in North America and in 2011 operates service from hubs in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and Toronto.
Since its launch on April 10, 2006, Megabus.com has carried more than 13 million travelers.
